Writing

• INTRODUCTION TO POETRY

Onetime poet laureate of Britain, Carol Anne Duffy, said that’…poetry is the music of being human …’ I rather think poetry is the music of becoming human, because life is an ongoing attenuated process of metamorphoses. How to capture that process in poetry? How to impart original, lyrical and affecting accounts of our own experience poetically?
This course will empower you to find your own voice as a poet by closely reading a series of master poets from Sharon Olds and Seamus Heaney, and more, in order to get a literary transference. You will assemble your own small portfolio of poetry and engage in workshopping your poetry in a positive, albeit critical literary environment, which will empower you to develop your craft.

Thurs 24th Oct 9.30am – 10.30am
6 weeks for $90.00
